These games were advanced graphical games but due to their proprietary nature, it was not possible to spread them until 1979. Then came textual games, running on UNIX, DOS and VMS which were accessible to public.

By early 1990s, use of Internet was limited and online games were provided by proprietary services. Air warrior was the first multiplayer game where multiple players battle with each other with virtual planes. This game was then developed in 1993, which ran on the Internet. Since then commercial game developers started putting their games on the internet for general public.

These days, the entertainment world has seen a new dimension since the invention of video games. They were much filled with fun and entertaining, but lacked portability. To solve these problems, online games came as a solution.

Previously we used to play against a player generated by the computer and missed the excitement of playing against human beings.
